Join us for a shorts program showcasing the best of up and coming Israeli filmmakers. These short films were created by recent graduates of the Jerusalem Sam Spiegel Film School, one of the top film schools in Israel.

Filmmakers Hanan Brandes and Michal Veig will be in attendance and join post-screening panels.

I Missed You at the Synagogue

When Carmel, a religious boy, finds his best friend Ido heartbroken from a recent breakup at his house, Carmel feels things he didn’t dare admit about his romantic feelings for Ido. Jerusalem’s Sam Spiegel Film School student film. Filmmaker and recent graduate, Hanan Brandes, will be in attendance.

Summer Games

On the last night of the Second Lebanon War, Eden’s mother, a new immigrant from Russia, leaves for her long night shift at the hospital. Which means Eden is alone again. He goes on a desperate journey to try and win the pretty girl next door – and the close knit Israeli home she lives in. Jerusalem’s Sam Spiegel Film School student film.

Someone Tell Me How To Feel

Esti works at a hostel for adults with autism where she feels at home. It is when she leaves that the stimuli and noise of the outside world make it difficult to find herself. But she has decided to defy the routine of her daily life and to retrieve from her surroundings a bit of intimacy and human warmth. Jerusalem’s Sam Spiegel Film School student film.

Silent One

Arriving at a silent retreat in the Jerusalem hills, Maayan could not have imagined who she would encounter there, and the sort of wound from her past she would have to confront. Attending a workshop for overcoming heartbreak, 28-year-old Neta surprises the others by telling them that his previous relationship lasted three weeks and then he meets Yael with whom he forms a unique bond. Jerusalem’s Sam Spiegel Film School student film.

Do You Want to Cross the Sea?

For the first time, Noureldin Musa, an asylum seeker from Darfur, can start the life he has always imagined. He embarks on a farewell journey from Israel, which became his home, and from the community he led, to reunite with his wife and daughter in Canada. This is the journey of a man who is constantly on his way home. Jerusalem’s Sam Spiegel Film School student film. Filmmaker and recent graduate, Michal Veig, will be in attendance.
