Weekend Round Up May 9, 2019

This Saturday is the European Union Open House, Train Day at the Postal Museum and the 91st Georgetown Garden Tour (see separate story). The new mashup of the Washington Jewish Film Festival and the Washington Jewish Music Festival known as JxJ began yesterday and continues through May 26. JxJ: “A Fortunate Man”

On Thursday, May 9, at 7:30 p.m., as part of JxJ, “A Fortunate Man,” directed by Bille August (“Pelle the Conqueror”), will be screened at AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center, 8633 Colesville Road in Silver Spring, Maryland. In the 1880s, a gifted but self-destructive young man leaves his suffocating Lutheran upbringing for the milieu of a wealthy Jewish family in Copenhagen. Tickets are $13.50.
