We Stand Against Racism

JxJ and the Edlavitch DCJCC will not stand for racism or injustice to anyone. During this tumultuous time, we as a community must come together and avail ourselves as allies to the black community. We must take a stand against police brutality. It is through our voices that we can make a difference in the greater DC area and in the world. We say the names of those murdered just in the last few months: George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and mourn the senseless loss of countless other sacred black lives.

We must be the change we want to see, so immediately we commit to looking internally and making changes to ensure that we are an anti-racist organization. We pledge to:

  • Listen, learn, and deepen our understanding of racism and the violence it brings so we can move our organization towards being more anti-racist;
  • Create programming for our community on being anti-racist and how to become better allies;
  • Recognize and center the voices of our staff, members, and community who are People of Color.

We know this is only a beginning and that accountability must exist both in the present and in the long-term. We hope you will join us to fight for a world where equality prevails.
